Can we Talk...?

Insurance ...
When did it become a four letter word?

We all know what's going on in our nation right now with the Affordable Care Act and ObamaCare...
(they are the same thing you know).

Well, we received a letter form CityBoy's employer on Monday letting us know that his company would no longer be offering insurance to part-time employees....
Hummmm...
There went my coverage....CityBoy is covered by the VA and Medicare...

Yesterday being the first day of the new web site...
HealthCare .gov
I decided to take a look at what's available....
Hummmmmm....
Couldn't get on....everytime i tryed  i got the "Please Wait" message...
Hummmmm....
Called a few of the biggies.....you know....
Blue Cross....United....Cigna....etc...

we were asking for a policy just for me....one person....basic benefits with vision and dental..
Not anything special...
Hummmmm...quotes....

Anywhere between  $493.00 to $763.93 a month...!
(that last one is more than my house payment)
and the deductibles are unreal...

Hummmmm...

Affordable ..... not so far...!!

Everyday is a Gift

  1. I wish they would stop calling the Affordable Care Act and call it what it really is - The UNAFFORDABLE Care Act. My husband's policy which he gets thru his employer (for himself and spouse) jumped 63%. And that is for High deductible and we don't even go to the doctor hardly at all. Unbelievable!

  5. I am reserving judgment for now. There are many kinks that need to be worked out yet. Subsidies are supposed to be available to help with the cost. My gripe is with the stupid politicians. Is it any wonder there is so much confusion when the leaders of our country are acting like toddlers. Drives me insane.

  6. I pay just a little over 400.00 a month for my supplemental insurance. It's the biggest bill I have all month. The only thing I have used it for is my flu shot as thankfully, I've been healthy and take no meds. But I continue to pay out the big bucks which keeps going up in leaps and bounds because I'm figuring someday I'll need it. I've been thinking about get less coverage, but then you pay more out of pocket. I'm torn as what to do.

  7. The governmnet has opened a barrel of fish hooks that will only build more government. The prices I see are not affordable.

I heard my son say, ' for the first time in my life I am going to be a law breaker.'

  8. So what exactly will happen for those not able to find a job to pay insurance. Make Americans pay such high premiums, ridiculous. The illegal people will get insurance free. I read that yesterday and I wouldn't doubt that it happens. The illegals are better off than the Americans.

  9. Oh so true...not affordable at ALL but still rammed down out throats. The idiots who passed it, regardless of party, should be convicted as traitors then stood against a brick wall. I'm fed up with most of them but there are a few, a pitiful few, who are fighting. Read my post on Rep. Forbes who has co-sponsored some incredible bills that, probably, won't be passed by the greedy leeches. It's sickening and just because gasoline prices are dropping...just in time for Nov elections...they dems will, more than likely, be re-elected. I'm not saying the reps are much better but I've seen what the dems have done and don't like it. Even Sen Baucus, o's biggest supporter, has said, "obamacare is a train wreck" and yet the train keeps on coming...sickening!
