Have you tryed.......

........chicken chili...??

Now ....i'm not much of a chili cook.......for me it's just ground beef....tomatoes.......kidney beans .......and a packet of store brand chili seasonings.......

However........since CityBoy's gastric bypass surgery......ground beef has been replaced by ground turkey or ground chicken.....

And over the last few years i've been making chili with ground turkey....small white navy beans and the same packets of store brand chili seasoning....

Who knew chicken chili had it's own seasonings......!!

There's been alot of chatter lately on the blogs about chicken chili and when i found this packet on the shelf.........brain said "Try it!!"

So i promptly threw it in the cart and happily drove it home.....

What can i say......"Yuck!!!......too much cilantro!!!"

......Sorry.....

I'm going back to ........"My Way"......

OMGoodness....now i'm channeling "Old Blue Eyes".....

Enjoy

  1. Mike and I love the ground turkey chili, dark red kidney beans, tomatoes, sauce, and chili seasoning packet. It's quick and I make it often.

  2. I don't think it's possible to have too much cilantro! Well, maybe dried cilantro is just to intense...but I will give the packet a try.

  5. All recipes we make that call for beef, we use either chicken or turkey. I've had chicken chili and thought it was pretty good. I didn't make it though. That's probablly why it was good. LOL

  6. I'm a "chili out of the can" person. I just bought some "Cattle Drive Gold Chicken Chili". I've been buying their beef chili at Costco, but this time they ONLY had the chicken kind. I bought it because I know it's healthier than the beef.

  7. Thanks for the warning. I've never seen white chili seasoning. Now I'll know to avoid it.

  8. A lot of people have turned to chicken or turkey instead of beef. It's nice to try new things but I'm like you my old standbys always seem the best.

  10. Oh, I don't like cilantro, so I'll be sure to avoid that brand. Though, I did cheat and make some beef stew this weekend, using their slow cooker mix. It came out pretty good.

Mom was from Texas, and I grew up on good old Texas chili (no beans). I'll have to dig out her recipe, and see if it could be adapted to chicken or turkey.

  11. I am famous for my two day chili. I heard raves about this white bean chicken chili and wanted to try it but Hubby gave me two thumbs down. I gave him the big brown~eyed routine and stuck out my bottom lip but maybe this time Hubby knew best.

You have an excellent day filled with many blessings!!!!

  12. I love ground chicken - and chicken chili. I use 3 TBSP of chili powder, 1 TBSP of cumin, and 1/2 TBSP on cocoa(for color). Also Hominy with my beans - never would have thought it, but I love it in chili now. Lots of tomatoes, like you.

Sorry to give my ideas. I know how we all love our own favorites.
