Heirlooms or Antiques.......

These are the stocking i made when the MaleChild was an infant.....
I felt we needed special stocking for Santa to fill on his first Christmas....

Now here's my question......there are somethings....which when they reach the ripe old age of 30 .... they are considered "antiques".......you know like...cars....furniture...etc....

Well.....the MaleChild turned 31 this year.....!!

Does this make my home made stockings Antiques...?

And i've got stockings for the FemaleChild......allllll the dogs we had at the time.....the horses we had at the time....and...there may be one for the chickens we had at the time....

Could i change the names at the top and reuse...??

Would this remove them from Antiques status....!!

Maybe i'll just call them "early heirlooms"

Enjoy

  4. Well they say on the Antiques Roadshow not to do any type of restoration because it might ruin the item! :)

  5. No, I wouldn't do anything to them...but they are certainly lovely and made with love. I think you should pass them onto your children and let them decide what they'd like to do with them and allow them to incorporate them into their homes...I still have most of the things my mom made for me and adore them!

  6. I don't know, but they sure are beautiful. It's good to get back to reading your blog again. I have missed your joy in life these past couple of weeks. We're being inundated with snow today, and I'm very glad that the only times I have to go out in it is to feed the wild things.

  7. We've got all our stockings - mine and husband's, kids and spouses, grandkids and stepgrandkids, current cat and potbellied pig. Made every year from 1948 to 2009. They hang on the banister for three weeks in December and live in their cozy box the rest of the year.

  9. I love your stockings. There are a treasure. My youngest son is going to be 31 next month so I guess I have an awful lot of heirlooms around my house too.

  10. You put one on the horns of a delimma. I really don't know what classifies something as an antique, I know that I am! haha!
Sister Shirl always made Christmas stockings for everyone coming into the family. Sherry just ran across one of her blankets she made for the grand kids, This one belongs to the Grandson in Utah, I think we will send it out so his daughter can enjoy it.

Love, BTW the pictures are great, you are so ingenius.
