Pondering...again....

...this morning while driving around town, doing the last minute...day before i go back to work errands......i found myself unconsciously comparing gas prices...

they seem to range between $3.33 - $3.39 for a gallon of regular gas.....

Hummm........the brain began to churn......

What would happen if just ONE of the big oil companies came forward and said...

"We're tired of this.......we gonna do something for the American people....!!
We're gonna forgo our gazillion dollar profit this year.......our CEO's will not be receiving their mega million dollar bonuses this year......

We're going to freeze the price of gas at $2.50 a gallon until further notice......
Take the money you'll be saving at the pumps ...... buy food for your families.......pour your found dollars back into the economy......

We of the ONE big oil company support you our customers.....!!"

Can you imagine the lines to purchase your gas at a station with a reasonable price....!!

Would you wait in line to buy gas for $2.50?.........

I would.....but....then i remember the gas lines during the early 70's...

Life is Good

  1. Yes, I would wait in line and I too remember the lines in the 70's

  2. I too would wait in line because I'm on a retirement budget and every cent counts. The sad thing is that many other countries are paying even more than we are for gas. It seems that once prices go up like this they really never do go back down to what they were. I was paying 23 cents a gallon for gas when I got my first car. I do hope your day is a great one. It's hard to believe you are going back to work already.

  3. I know! It's it ridiculous & to know how people are struggling just to put food on their tables.

  4. I was in those lines then but had to work so time was more critical.
Now days, I'd pack a lunch and read my Kindle till I reached the pump. You bet.

  5. Man o Man, do you remember in the late 60's, when you'd fill up your tank, and get to pick a 'prize' from the show case that was placed between the pumps?

  6. Add me to the list of people who would wait in line. I remember the '70's clearly. Though, I think if any of the oil companies did that, I'd probably have a heart attack and wouldn't have to worry about waiting in line.

  7. Fortunately, I don't have to travel far each day, so I'm one of the lucky ones!

  8. I too remember the 70s and the gas wars of the 60s when stations would battle it out. I remember 27 cent gas. But, you do what you have to do. I always travel with a book, so I would be ready to wait. I've heard rumors on tv of $5 a gal. by summer. I sure hope not.

  9. The gas lines were in the mid to late 70's - - - when I began driving in the early 70's I remember during a gas war paying 19 cents per gallon!

    I paid $3.34/gal yesterday.

  11. This is a great entry. A thoughtful entry, I love when you do your pondering.

What a great idea, It would sure be a PR winner for someone!!! In publicity alone they would save hundreds of Millions on the ads.

I hope they read your BLOG! As a matter of fact why not send the idea to all of them?

Maybe if you don't, I will forward it to all the oil companies in a day or so. Ponder some more. Throw the idea out to Max, Mia and Miss Kitty no telling what they would come up with.

Love from the frozen two in Ypsilanti.

  12. I remember those lines as well and I would stand in line again. I fear that we will catch up with Europe in terms of gas prices though.

  15. I'd wait in line and pump my own gas! Great thought...but wishful thinking.

  17. My parents owned a service station in the mountains of NC. I remember when we sold gas for 19 cents during the gas wars. We didn't make a penny on the gas when we had to do that. The gas company ALWAYS set the price of gas. Usually we made about a penny a gallon for gas. Sometimes people would drive off without paying for gas. WE had to pay for that gas. On the day that happened, we were depressed the whole day because that meant we would not made ANY money that day. Having been in the service station business, I feel bad for service station owners. It's the big gas companies that make money. We finally had the pumps taken away, concentrated on selling lawn and garden supplies and added a florist ... had to do something to make a living.

  18. Now that I'm retired, my gas expenses have gone down. But I have to say that rising prices make it easier for me to walk to the grocery store, the diner, the drug store, the gym. It's good for me.
