'Maters everywhere....

Yesterday CityBoy and i stopped by the produce stand on our way home from hitting every grocery store in this little town....
And what do we find....
Boxes of canning tomatoes.....!!!

What can you get from one box of 'maters.....

7 pints of Salsa
7 pints of 'maters
5 quarts of 'maters....

not bad for a days work...!

Today it's the apples i had planned to do yesterday...
It's an "applesauce" kind'a day....!!

  4. I miss my grandmother's tomatoes. THey would never eat their Meals On WHeels when she was alive. I would take thier left over meat, veggies from the Meals on WHeels and her canned tomatoes and make a soup when I would come over. She was always amazed at what I did to those blah meals. I would just smile and say... its the tomatoes.

  10. There is nothing so wonderful as opening home canned goods in the winter. I used to can, but haven't in years. That is hard work. I do remember doing it barefoot and pregnant, in a hot kitchen too. :)
