It's a Party......

and the guests seem to arrive around dust.....
This is last year's doe, we named BlackFace (on left) and what i believe is one of her fawns from last year......maybe Jill....(she sure looks like Mama)...
They showed up yesterday after the doe with Thelma and Lou had finished the buffet...
So.....i rushed right out...threw more apples and corn.....can't have anyone going hungry...!!
For those who asked.......i used my little Canon SureShot A550.....with as much zoom as it can give me......i was standing on the front porch.....the deer are in the front yard....within 50 feet of the house...
After i get the pictures......i play with PhotoShop....to improve the shot ..... then crop....save .....and pray for the best......!!
Nothing fancy....just a small pocket camera and a computer program....
Whew..!!....just counted....the herd is up to six already...(if i count the little buck that shows up occasionally)......maybe CityBoy needs a second part-time job .....
Gott'a pay for the feed somehow...!!!
Enjoy

  1. My grandfather lives near the battlegrounds of Yorktown. He backs up to government propert which is all woods. Around 4 or 5 PM each night a family of five deer visit his yard. They have allowed me to walk within 50 feet of them before htey take off. My pastor stopped by yesterday and was looking forward to seeing them but our first all day rain and summer thunderstorms happened yesterda. SO the deer stayed away.

  2. You are so fortunate to be able to enjoy deer. When we first moved to our house 13 years ago, deer would come to the front yards in our neighborhoods, but development has moved them all out, even the wild turkeys. I miss living in a rural area. Thakns for sharing your pics with us!

  4. WEll good on you! However unlike Paula in Texas who feeds turles, thou art feeding the big guys!!!!

It must be very comforting to see the large animals that close, and that unafraid.

  10. Are your deer white-tails? I've never seen one with a black face like that before. They are beautiful. I took some pictures of the deer around here this morning, but haven't had a chance to download yet. Hope they came out OK, as I shot through a screen.

  12. Yep I think City Boy had better start looking for that second job with a kind gal like you who keeps everyone fed.

  13. Even though they are pests, I love the guys, too. We have Mule Deer out here in the Sierra Nevada foothills, with big, floppy ears and tiny tails.
