Fading Away...

..like the cone flower...summer is slowly fading away here in the high country...

This will be the last "big" camping weekend of the season...and

The camp sites are all reserved..

Next we'll get a few overnighters here to look at the leaves in early October and maybe a few hardy souls who want to camp in the frost and/or snow...

then things will go into hibernation until next spring,,

I'm looking forward to a long winters nap...

This is Why.....

...there were no post from me over the weekend...

My little buddy Meagan is getting married....

i met Meagan the first year we lived here full time...

she was young, just starting out in college and sometimes she would call me late at night...

(after a night class) and i would talk her in, as we said, or in other words..talk to her so she would not fall asleep on the drive home....45 minutes....

Then she met this boy.....she would call me....and talk about how much she was in "lloovvee" and she couldn't wait to get married....

Well....here we are 5 years later, she's a Special Ed teacher and she's getting married to "that" boy....

I'm calling this "A Color for All Seasons"

My little buddy loves color and she can use this in any season..

Migraine....!!

Had the mother of all migraines  hit Tuesday morning about 2:30am..
First headache i've had in over a year...

Spent yesterday feeling like i had been run over by a small truck..

Feeling OK today...just a little fuzzy around the edges...
So i'm headed for work  

To bad it's soo foggy i can't see the road...

It sums up the way the fur babies and i felt this morning as we struggled out of bed..

It's that time of the season...

The time when things are slowing down, the campgrounds are no longer full, the Visitor Center is quite, the phone calls are few and far between...

The time of the year when my brain starts to think of other "stuff" i could be doing... 

Maybe that's why i bought that "sock loom"...

HAHAHAHAHAHA...!

Me making socks...the pattern has already confused me...and i can't get the yarn to stay on those little hooks!!

Maybe i need to rethink that ....

After two weeks of my daily rut being alllll messed-up..

I ended up with a three day weekend and now ..... today.....i've gott'a go back to work....!!

Ugh...!!

And lets talk about barking....

Since the MaleChild has moved, we're letting the dogs bark till their little throats are sore....

Yesterday there were 9 beagles running thru the yard....

around and around and around...

I tryed to e-mail you an answer to your questions...but things would not connect...

No this is not Otter Peak Lodge or Peaks of Otter Lodge...

This is the twelve acre woods in North Carolina that we live on...

The red roof belongs to my parents and we live in the cabin with the green roof...

My parents red roof has become somewhat of a landmark in the area....

i over heard someone giving directions the other day.....Saying...

"just go down this road toward the red roof and then turn right...."

Two more changes....

This is where i started my day yesterday...

Yep..!

I'll be 62 in September...

and given the state of affairs in D.C.

I decided to take my Social Security early ..

It may not be there when i'm 65...!

 

Then i came home and along with CityBoy, joined the herd of parents that moved the kid to college this weekend..

The MaleChild is in the third year of prosueing his new career...

he's been living at home..but..the transfer to Appalachian State and the new part time job,

brought the need for closer digs...

He and a good friend are living off campus in a three bedroom, three bath apartment, (they're looking for a third roommate), at a great price with utilities included.

But...!!

It's on the third stink'n floor..!!

I'm told that the third floor is a luxury in college live...

Ugh...

 

Between that and being in a college town super Wal*Mart on a Friday night at 8pm, following your child around...pushing a cart that's loaded with "stuff".....watching (what looked like) thousands of other parents doing the same thing, made for  a very busy day...

Not to mention dodging all those U-Haul trailers...

I'm tired..!

My daily rut has been so turned around these last two weeks.....i woke up today unsure of what day it was....

 

I think it's Wednesday, August 8th...

 

Now i just need to remember if PaPa's birthday is today or tomorrow....

The last few days.....

..you may have wondered   "where has she been?"

Well...

This was my weekend of the season to work..

So Saturday and Sunday was spent toiling away at the park...

lots of campers.....lots of rain....

not a good fix..!!

Then yesterday found me canning salsa and tomatoes from the $10.00 box of 'maters CityBoy picked up at my favorite veggie stand on Friday....

15 pints of salsa and 4 quarts of 'maters....not bad....

Now it's back to work for 3 days and then a 3 day weekend....!

MaleChild is moving to his new digs on Friday...

guess what i'll be doing on my 3 day weekend...

Ok...OK...here's the goings on.....

I had a job interview yesterday...

No....i'm not leaving the parks..!

The interview was for the Mount Jefferson park...the park where i started this adventure...

they are in need of a permanent part-time office assistant..

(is that an oxymoron?)

And even though i love my job here at the New River it would be a little more money..(not enough to interfere with my up-coming Social Security)..less working hours a week and a 12 mile round-trip commute instead of  40 miles each day....holidays and weekends off ...plus...same boss and crew i've been working with for the past 5 years...
Plu...plus...if for some reason they hire someone else...i can keep this job next season...!!
Win...win...!

Don't know anything yet...they are doing more interviews next Tuesday and i'm covering the office so they can go to the Mountain to conduct them.....huh..??!!
I'm covering for interviews... for the job i want...
(shake your head and shrug shoulders here)
I'm such a good little doobie...!....lolol

As for my new toy...
Down-loaded another book and Angry Birds..
doesn't everyone play Angry Birds..??

Maybe ...if i get this new job...i'll have time to read all these free books...
