Happy Birthday to ya.....!

When we rescued Mia we were lucky and received her "papers."

The papers that included her shot record and her birthday...

Today she is 9 years old....!!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl...!!

When we rescued Max he had nothing and the vet said he was approximately 8 weeks old...That was September of 2006

Soooo

We asked Mia....she said OK....... and just like his sister July 31st became his "official" birthday...

He's 7 years old today...

Happy Birthday Little Man....

They've asked for an ice cream cake...

Invasion of the Turtle....

Through out our married life turtles have played an important part....

When we first met, I had turtles in the back window of my car..

When CityBoy traveled in the Cayman Islands he always brought us carved turtles as gifts..

When the MaleChild was small we called him "Tortuga" on some days...

He called the FemaleChild "TuTu" his baby version of turtle...

So

When CityBoy and I decided to purchase a Barn Quilt for the Cabin the choice was a no brainer...

Here he is......Mr. Turtle.....the new family crest...!!

And here he is watching over the neighborhood..

Mr. Turtle was made by local artists..

Blue Ridge Parkway....

Made a little side trip on Friday...

the SIL needed a few mountain pictures..

SO

off to the Parkway we went..after all

it's only 1.5 miles from the little cabin.

Found it to be in pretty good shape even with the loss of 40 jobs due to the sequester and the rains have cause a few mud slides  or rock slides...

But

the views are still there and you can't beat'um

We went to hear this father and son duo last night.

Dad plays the Hammered Dulcimer and fiddle.

Son plays anything with strings...

Also, one of our local talents played the piano and dulcimer along with them on a few tunes...

Great "old" mountain music and some new stuff composed by the son.

Very informal.....saw a few pair of pressed jeans....

Mom, the SIL, CityBoy and Me.......we had a great time...

Did i tell you that my brother was moving from Florida to North Carolina...?

Well..

There he comes up the drive with the fur babies and plant forest in the van...

There comes my SIL

Curvy roads are a shock after the flat lands of FL..

Here comes the "stuff"

Well.....some of the stuff....the rest was dropped off at a storage unit...

now the settling in begins....

My SIL is up from Florida for a visit...

So

We've been doing a lot of running g around seeing all the local sights...

As CityBoy was showing her the main street downtown 

I took the time to notice the improvements that have been happening...

I like the flower planters that have been installed on each corner..

But

My favorite was the tomato planter on the side street next to the honey for sale sign..

She sits and watches...but...very seldom gets a chance to catch...

Another One x 2.....

It's another one of those days when the outside world has disappeared....

and

the parental units also had a lightning hit....

Blew out both their TVs....the under the kitchen cabinet lights...and several of the wall sockets in the kitchen...

the hit was a tree outside the NE corner of their house..

there's bark and leaves everywhere...

Could'a been worse...electrician on the way...!!

We've Been Hit...!

What.....??!

Yep....we were hit by lightning last night....

Huge....big thunder storms passed thru our area...

with really nasty lightning..

It either hit the front porch....in the dogs fenced in yard or the west side of the roof...

Threw the circuit breakers for the west side of the house...blew out the coffee pot...screwed up my laptop and made the toilets continuously run...

hummmmm.....toilets..?...that's strange...

CityBoy fixed the toilets....I fixed my laptop....and a new coffee pot will appear today.

Could've been worst...

I've blogged before about cooking breakfast for the fur babies every morning....

Well...

Every morning Max and I have to play this game...

it goes like this...

Me:  Max your eggs are ready...!

Max:  no response

Me:  Max your eggies are ready..

Max:  no response

Me:  Max your eggos are ready..!

Max:  rolls over and yawns

Me:  Mia's gonna eat them..

Max:  a turn of the head to look at me..

Me:  I'm gonna let the kitty eat them...!

Max:  Blap!!...his feet hit the floor and he's got his face buried in his bowl...

And the experts say that dogs don't understand more than a few simple words of the human language...

They must not own a Max...

the bunnies don't care...they just continue munching on the clover growing all over the yard..

Finally the little bush next to the office front door burst into bloom..

We've been watching the buds for weeks..

the rest of the Rhodies on the mountain have bloomed and gone.

Mist and fog has taken over the gap..

We finally made it to the movie...

I can understand why the critics have not been giving it rave reviews...

it is a mixed up...crazy...combination of fact and/or fiction..

But...!

we enjoyed it....it's great fun...!

and has one of the best chase scenes ever filmed...

And

Tonto is not Capt. Jack with feathers...!!

Cancelled Plans.....

Well not completely .... we did have a great lunch of grilled chicken, potato salad, beans and sliced tomatoes

 

But

 

Then the skies open up again and the flooding started...

the bridge above is the closest low laying bridge to the cabin and even though we do not have to cross it...there are more low laying areas between us and town...

SO

i gave up Johnny Depp for the evening....

We'll go see the Lone Ranger on Saturday..

even if we have to go by boat..!

Here we go again.....

...the previous rains lasted for 11 days...

we're now into day#3 of this round of rainy weather....

..ugh..

Things are damp.....starting to mold....the grass is growing sooooo fast, that it needs to be mowed every other day or i'll lose the dogs in a jungle of greenery...

Humidity and temps are up and down....windows are up and down....ceiling fan are on and off...

Wish i could ship some of this wetness to the western states...

I'm on the verge of wishing for winter...!

Over the weekend CityBoy and i hung a third feeder....!

These feeders wholed one and one-half cups of hummer juice each...

and we're refilling at least two of them aday...

I may need a second job....so we can afford the sugar to make the juice...

I know there's only one little tinny bird in this picture..

but

i couldn't get all eight to line up and stand still...!!
