At this time of the year....we seem to be in a holding pattern...

Summers not quite gone...but...fall hasn't arrived yet...

 

Temps are iffy.....maybe a heat wave and then a short time later your ready for a jacket..

Some of the trees are showing a leaf here or there that is another color instead of green...

Fall wildflowers are trying to bloom...

and people are talking about the last harvest from the garden or getting one more haying in the barn...

Guess I'll go to work and fight with the computer there...

it only wants to work on Explorer...

For Those That Don't Know.....

...there is an old mountain tale that for every foggy day in August..

there will be a snow in the winter...

Thick fog - heavy snow

Light fog - light snow

You keep track of this by marking of your calendar or my preferred method....

beads in a jar...

A blue bead for a thick fog..

A green bead for a light fog...

Then remove a bead according to the snow falls.

Last year i was left with two beads...

(Maybe a slept thru a snow or two)

Then you get a day like today....

hard call....hummmmmm....light in spots heavy in others...

Maybe i'll throw in a yellow bead and call it a "flurrie"

August 7th.....

and I've got 3 beads in the jar already....

one green

and two blue...

one light snow and 2 heavy snows...

things are not starting off good for a mild winter...

The count is on...!!

Fleas....we don't want no stink'n fleas...!

Yep..!

The rains stopped and the fleas started...

Max and Mia don't have fleas on their bodies...

but

they've been bitten by one or two out the the yard 

and 

the fleas allergies have began...

the scratching....licking....chewing...ugh

So 

off to the cute vet they go this afternoon..

one little shot a piece and a few pills ..

then they'll be back to normal...

Whatever normal is...

Mom and Dad decided that "my" birthday should be Oct. 31st....
