The picture only shows one hummer..
but
in reality the little buggers are swarming the feeders...
We have 2 feeders that hold 1 1/2 cups of hummer juice each and we're filling them a least once a day.
By mid September they will be gone headed for the far South for the winter.
The males will leave first and then the females and young ones...
Another sign that Fall is on the way....
I have a hummer feeder out and I'm still getting my little female at least once a day. Since I live further north than you I suspect she will be leaving soon.
ReplyDeletemaybe they will stop by my feeders on the way South....
DeleteLove your hummer photo. I have 2 or 3 resident hummers here. I live in SoCal so our hummers are here year round. I just filled my feeder again today for about the 3rd or 4th time in a month. One of my hummers was born in my yard when I used to have a shade tree. His mom and dad would next in the tree every year. Mine are Rufus Hummers.

ReplyDeleteYou will miss them when they are gone as will I. They are delightful to watch.
ReplyDeleteWe get to see one or two in the Piedmont when we are up. I am sure ours is hanging empty now. I fill it as we leave. I can't imagine having to fill it every day, WOW
ReplyDeleteHeaded for Flagler today.
