Cabin Fever

Do animals get cabin fever?

Yesterday.....after several hours of two dogs demanding my attention......there was whining.....there was begging......there was barking......there was staring at me with the soulful eyes.........

I opened the door on the front porch..a small crack.......it was in the 40's, no wind and sunny......well, this satisfied them for about an hour.......you know the .....running in and out ....the chasing of the birds.......harassing the cat.......dog stuff!!

Then they were back to being my shadows........hard to concentrate on quilting when two dogs are trying to sit under my chair or on my lap.......

By mid-afternoon they were driving me nuts!!! What did i do when the kids were young and driving me nuts.........a ride in the car!!

The word "RIDE" brought on a state of chaos........running....jumping......twirling......barking.....up and down the stairs......all this in the time it took me to find my keys!!!

We slid off the mountain.........went to the mailbox ....... to see the goats ....... to see the moo cows.......to see the rock quarry.......waved/barked at the tree farmers......looked at the ice in the river...........Mia riding shotgun and Max, my little rear gunner, who watches out the back window of my truck.....making sure there are no sneak attaches from those "farm dogs"......

And just like my kids..... we came home sooooo tired......... they had to take a long late afternoon nap....

I think dogs are just little kids with lots of hair...................

  1. I agree on dogs being kids. Sadie goes crazy like that if we don't go for our walk in the pasture soon enough to suit her. Then when she sees us preparing (putting on shoes and coats) she drives us batty whining and running in circles.

  2. Never thought about dogs being like kids - but it's true!!! Glad you were able to keep them occupied with a car ride!

  3. Ah yes, they are like the babes in all ways. They need entertainment and play and companionship and all the rest, especially love.

  5. Awww, I bet they were tired after the outing. Our boston terriers love to ride too. They know what you mean when you say you want to go....they start baouncing around & barking too. What would we do without our furry kids?

  11. I agree, dogs are often like kids. They take up a lot of our time and yet are our best friends. Gotta love those dogs.

  12. Oh yes, Tip is bored silly in the house. She is always willing to go outside any chance she can get when I go outside. She cant be left unattended though. She tends to get into trouble..finding various types of animal poo delicious..yes I know, gross, but she has to be watched or she will sneak in that extra gross snack...bleah..lol. Considering she is a border collie I guess she does pretty well with the whole cabin fever thing. They do all want more attention during the winter though dont they? Poor souls, they just want the same thing we do, warm and dry sunny days. :) Hugs, Kelly
