Our Favorite...

.......These are some pictures from ...what we decided was our favorite quilt shop.....A Scarlet Thread in McDonough, GA.....www.ascarletthread.com....

I had to borrow these pictures from their website...cause in the fabric frenzy.....i forgot my camera was in my purse!!

What makes this shop soooo neaat........is their great selection of fabrics.....also the set-up is unique...... it is housed in an old Doctor's office and each "exam" room has a different theme of fabric or is a work room.......there's the longarm room, the cutting room, the Moda room, the Sale room, the novelty fabric room...etc..... the combos are unlimited!!

Plus....it's a 15 minute drive from the female child's house!!! (visited twice) .....They have an open kitchen (very important when your in a frenzy)...just throw a dollar in the jar..... coke with cookies are yours to nibble on as you check out the notions room and the patterns/books that line the hallways and don't let me forget the machines!!....Embroidery,straight sewing and longarm....your choice!!

We, three women on a mission....... voted this black and white lap quilt our favorite of the Shop Hop......we kept coming back to look at this little beauty......but, at the end of the three days ...none of us had bought the pattern or kit.......Go figure!!!

Feed!...Seed!....Quilts?!

When we drove into the parking lot...we really thought we were at a garden store and as we walked in the side door, all we saw was farm supplies, feed and seeds....and then you looked up....
Quilts...quilts....quilts and more quilts....the entire right side of the barn was fabric and quilting supplies.........there's Mom (pink shirt) amazed at the different patterns and styles....


See the one in the middle, the one that looks like it's spinning.....? That's the one my #2 grandson decided he needs for his bed......Happy sewing female child....lol

More quilts....whoa!...i'm getting dizzy...have to look down

Quilts and candy and all kinds of sauces, cheese, fresh ham, bacon and baked goods..

What did these two buy.......Candy!... off the "ON SALE" candy table!

We almost needed a large box to get all our fabric and stuff to the car.......the good ole' boys behind the cash register offered to help us out to the car.......maybe i should have bought the wheelbarrow in the garden section....but, it was by the wind chimes....which i really had to stay away from.......

Anyway........Patrick's is a 61 year old family owned business and a must see if you'er down in the Atlanta area........and it was only #2 on our favorite list........more later!

We're Back........

....Mom and i cruised in about 3:15 this afternoon ........ a little water logged......never seen sooooo much rain!!! The Atlanta area had flash flood warnings up Friday and Saturday....but,...did it stop three women on a mission.......nawwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!

The beauty above was in the last quilt shop we visited....www.sweethomequiltco.com....in Conyers, GA.........it was done in greens, grays, blacks and white......who would have thought it!!! It's really very different and beautiful......great little place.....!!

Tell you about my two favorites later......ever been to a combo.....quilt shop and feed store? Yep!...it's out there......pictures tomorrow!

...Mom and i are leaving in her silver streak of an Explorer for the Atlanta area ...to visit 27 Quilt Shops in three days...........Big "Shop Hop!".....

I saw and heard it today!!.....the part of Spring i dread the most!!...

Now don't get me wrong......i like spring....the new growth and baby animals.....the fresh air, the bright sunshine......being able to turn off the heat and open the windows.....which enables you to hear the birds chirping ......which remains you fill the feeders and take the wind chimes out of storage.......all that is great and i enjoy this part..........

But, like i said .......i saw and heard it today on the early news.....

Whoa........

Could this be "signs" of spring in the mountains.....!????

Just a few of the many neighbors....enjoying a warm sunny day...

I...however....am having a small yuck day....spent 3.5 hours at the dentist office yesterday....having the dreaded "Root Canal".........ouch!!!

It's never a good sign ...when your leaving the office and the doctor hands you prescriptions for pain meds and an antibiotic.......

Today i feel like i've been hit in the jaw with a large baseball bat......decided to baby myself and stay home......don't even feel like quilting........ugh!!....that's bad..........

Think i'll take a "pill" and go back to bed...............Enjoy your day!!!

Back to the Future.....

I'm soooo ashamed.......this is the dust i've allowed to collect on my Grandmothers old sewing machine..........

But.....cleaning the cabinet lead me to airing-out the quilt i inherited from her.......

I believe this is the last quilt Granny and her sister made........they quilted in the summer when we were all at the farm ............they quilted in the late afternoon......after the days work was finished!!

This is the first time i've really taken an up-close look at the quilt......and i was amazed to find...not only was it sewn and quilted by hand ........but, some of the pieces had been machine darned in several places............!?

Who did the darning?.....i know Granny and Aunt Bessie didn't........where did they get the materials.......it's madras plaid and paisley print......popular in the 1960's!!

I can't imagine either of these ladies wearing madras.........did they go to a flea market ?.......a thrift store?........the church goodwill basket?

They used an army blanket for batting and a flannel blanket as the back...........whoa....talk about heavy....!!

Did they have any idea as they stitched away....that sometime in the future, their granddaughter and niece would proudly display it in her greatroom!!??

Well....this is the view from the front porch this morning.......and as usual when i post this view....i've got a rant on my mind........

What is with AIG???!!!.........do they truly expect to pay out $165 million dollars in bonuses???!!!

I know.....i read it on the internet and heard it on the national news.......poor AIG.....they are bound by a contract to pay these...... or...... here's the biggie.......be sued!!!!

Be sued?......poor,poor AIG.....that would be bad for the eoconomy....well.....which is worst?.......being sued or stealing more dollars from the American public in another bail-out!!??

They've already gotten two......are they gonn'a need another to pay these bonuses???

Our family lost big time when you went belly-up the first time ...... don't come knocking on our door for another bail-out!!!!

Ohhhhhhhh.....i feel soooooo much better now...........

Thanks for letting me rant........i'm going back and enjoy another Brigadoon morning.......i think if i wear fleece ....i can drink my coffee on the front porch......woohoo!!!!....almost heaven!!

The male child is at it again..........downloading pictures on my laptop....

There is a whole series of pictures that look like the one above........when asked..."What is it?" Another conversation of unassociated facts was spewed forth........ to make a long story short......it's sunset taken thru the bare trees on the ridge line to the west of the house....phew......can you imagine how long it took me to get that answer....!!!

Anyhoooooo.....the kid decided i needed some sunset pictures.......

Well...............let me tell you Ben.........i don't have enough hours on the weekends, as it is....................now you guys in the government are taking one away from me!!

Bright and spring like here today....highs in the 60's, no rain or snow in the forecast.........Woo...Woo.....Farm's Market here i come......then Ingels, then feed store, then post office, then WalMart, then library, then...................???

Had absolutely nothing of interest to post about today.......so as i was cruising thru the male child pictures ....i found this one.........What is it??.....a cosmic shower?.........swamp gas?.......illuminating fish in the quarry......i had no idea........went in search of the kid.....

Thankful Thursday

Look Mom........it's the Sun.......................!!!

This Thursday ....i'm thankful we had one last snow and that it was a "big" one........still lots of the white stuff piled-up along the sides of the roads and the parking lots look like a winter festival that's been over for a few days.....................but, it's starting to get dirty and look like ....ugh!!

Temps will be in the 50's today....so maybe the ugly gray stuff on the top will melt away and the spring flowers will start to peek out soon.........
