I'm gonna run into work....

do about an hours worth of work getting ready for 2013..

talk and joke with the Rangers...

Then, run by the Wal*Marts for milk and after Christmas goodies...

Then home... and wait for the next snow and midnight...

but

I'll probably fall asleep before the "Big Ball" hits...

i usually do.....ho hummmm..!!

her whiskers blew in several directions and she decided today was a litter box day...

The power is off on the mountain....no estimate as to when it will come back on...

They'll call me...then i'll go in....hard to do any work without internet....

Year after year all CityBoy has wanted for Christmas is cartoon sheets for the bed....

Year after year i've searched high and low trying to find king size cartoon sheets...

They don't make them...!!!!

Several years ago he said he would settle for cartoon pillow cases...

Try to find cartoon pillow cases sold seperately..

(not in those kiddie sheet sets)

Can't be done..!!

Then it hit me up-side the head...

I've got a sewing machine and a serger...

I've got a whole sewing room...

I've made dozens of pillow cases for other people...

Duhhhhhhh....

Make the boy some cartoon pillow cases...

Quick trip to the Wal*Marts .... one hour of my time....

And

CityBoy's a happy camper...!

....the last day to finish up the "shopping!"

So

A little later this morning, the female parental unit and i will make the last run to Wal*Marts....

we'll go before church lets out and hope the crowds are small...

Then it's home again to do a little laundry....maybe a little baking....and figure out what to make for dinner...

I'm thinking maybe turkey Salisbury steak with onion gravy and mashed taters...

Something to stick to our ribs and hips..

Well....tryed to get all the preprep storm stuff done on my way home yesterday...

The MaleChild appeared by my side as i was entering the Wal*Mart and i lost all train of thought.

I think i got everything except the male parental units gift...

i always have to ponder on that one...

What do you get a guy..who wears a Kermit the Frog knit cap in the winter?

...pretty empty field....the one west of the cabin....the one that the deer sleep in at night....the one that Misskitty plays in during the day.....the one where the stray beagles hunt for rabbits...?

By Saturday morning the weather gurus are telling me it will be covered with snow...

Yep

that fluffy p.i.t.a. white stuff should be here...

Don't get me wrong i "love" snow as long as i don't have to get out in it...

Soooo.....on the way home today..the last of the Christmas shopping will get done....i'll replenish the doggie/kitty treats and buy the ingredients for the casserole i plan on taking to Thursday nights staff party, even if the roads are too icy to go....then come home and pray i'll get off the park mountain before the snow gets to blizzard conditions on Friday...

...that's a good word for what the weather was yesterday....

so down to the basement i went...

in search of the Christmas decorations...

there they were right where i stored them last January..

Let's check the list:

outside lights up - check

mantel decorated - check

Christmas tree - check

Cards and stockings hung - check

gifts/gift cards bought and mailed - check

That's it......i'm done!

Did i tell you that one of the stray beagles, that live under my Mom's front porch, had puppies....?

Four of the little critters...

They'll be ready for adoption the end of January...

Anyone want a pure bred beagle pup....?  No charge....

With several Christmas parties in the near future...

i've been working on a few "dirty Santa" gifts..

Todays get together is the Quilters Guild..

we're having a pot holder exchange...

Can't decided which pair to give up..

i'll take them both..

maybe i'll take this little mini quilt...hot pad...table topper....big pot holder...

whatever you want'a call it...

All these projects were quick and simple...

churned them out in the one hour aday the fur babies allow me to sew....

They are soooooo demanding...!!

Issues....

Mia is searching....

and Max is thinking....

of a solution to the issues i'm having with my laptop computer...

It will not stay connected to the internet ...!

CityBoy was having the same issues...

soooo

we moved the router from downstairs to upstairs...

reconnected and his works like a charm....

But.....not me...!!

Maybe we need a new router....maybe i've got a bug-a-boo...

I'll let the MaleChild look at over the holidays...then we may be in for a trip to the computer Dr.

If i disappear don't worry..

I'm just having more issues...!!

It Went Well....

...until we got in the car...

Then they let me know how unhappy they were...

Ohhhh....

When i picked them up.....they were sooooooo happy to see me...

lots of barking....wiggles.....kisses....

but 

once in the car......cold shoulder time....

Max is so handsome.....and i now know he has eyes and ears...plus he's got a lot more silver in his coat than i thought...

Mia is bright white....no more dirt orange....and had a pedicure...

she would not hold still for a picture...

They were so pissed....they slept all afternoon...

Confusing Weather....

As you may know we have a 25' flagpole in the front yard.

It was CityBoy's birthday gift to me in 2001...my BD is shortly after 9/11.

It proudly flew our flags in Florida for several years and then when we moved to North Carolina we dug it out of the ground and it rode in CityBoy's truck for the 875 mile trip.

It slides into itself to a manageable 6'.....thank goodness...

Up here in the mountains at the first show of winter high winds or snow....

CityBoy removes the flags and telescopes the pole down for the winter...

But....Looky....looky....

CityBoys putting the flags back up...!!

The weather has been sooooo warm and nice he decided the flags needed to fly...

They're up.....they're flying...

I'm not telling him about the cold front coming in today...

the one with high winds and lots of rain...

 

The fur babies and i are off to the groomer...

For some reason "stars" are seeking me out this year...

Last week these two sparkly silvery guys jumped in my basket at Wal*Mart...

So i brought them home with no idea what to do with them...

They ended up on this wreath...

Maybe the bird feeder had something to do with it...

A Reprieve.....

the call came about 6:45 yesterday...

The groomer is having issues with her car and must get it taken care of...

sooooo...

the Diva and the Mountain man get a reprieve until Monday..!

Max was so excited he took a nap...

Yesterday afternoon looked like this and what did i do instead of going out and enjoy it....?

Well

The Christmas cards are all signed, sealed, labeled and soon to be stamped...

CityBoy's job for the day is stamping and mailing...

 

I seem to have found some "spirit" this year..!

Poor Max.....

He just over heard me talking to the dog groomer...

Max...is a neighborhood terrier....we're not sure what sort of mix is in his blood line..

but

somewhere along the way there were some long hair genes....

as a result his coat is fine...very uneven...thick in some place and thin in other areas....plus it's hard to find his mouth...eyes...and ears...

Now that he has developed skin issues, the cute vet suggested that we get him groomed, which should enable us to keep a closer watch on his problem areas...

He's never been groomed and is scared of the noise made by CityBoy's beard trimmer...

So

the groomer is gonna scissor clip him - with just a little clipper action in certain areas...

He's goin on Friday and i'll post pictures ...

Oh Yeah....!

Mia the Diva is also going.....just a bubble bath and nails...

Heat Wave......

64* yesterday...!!

Heavy frost that quickly disappears...

then temps start raising and according to the little weather gurus this should last allllll week..!

It was soo warm we put up the outside Christmas lights.

Never thought i'd be looking forward to cool weather and snow...

I like fall decorations you can get 3 months out of fall decoration..!

September - November....and even August if you stretch it....

Santa and the tree are good for December thru New Year....

hummmmm....one month and one week...

Doesn't compare...

Maybe this year i'll do snowmen, penguins, snowflakes and ice...

My first Social Security check appeared in the checking account this morning...

Does this make me officially old...?

or just eligible for my "entitlement".

(I dislike that word..."entitlement"....hey! buds..! i worked long and hard for this money..!!)

i guess i'll be 12 forever...!

She loves football and must warn any and all dogs and cats that appear on the screen this is her turf...

Watching the dog show on Thanksgiving morning was a real bark fest...!

She was cheering(barking) for the Great Dane...

Ask your tree lot people if they know where the trees come from...

If they don't know......you can educate them....

Ashe County is 4th in the nation for Christmas tree export...

This year even the White House bought(?) one...!

Neighborhood Entertainment....

Our neighbor "J" is a contractor and the neighborhood snow removal expert....

His big problem this year was how to keep snow off the roof of his new fifth wheel....

Well

Being a "Builder Bob" type of person...

He build it, it's own house..and /or pole barn.....what ever..!!

And if you look close...

There's "J's" wife "J" checking things out...

It was entertaining to watch from up here on the Twelve Acre Wood...

Turkey Day is coming....

and my house was in a jumble...

you see the MaleChild has to work all day on Thursday and he wanted to be here for the big feast...

So

We had a board meeting and decided that on Turkey Day we will have

Spaghetti and Meatballs

(not one of the MaleChilds favorites)

and

then our Turkey feast on Saturday

...mid afternoon...

'cause CityBoy has to work on Saturday....

I very seldom get political or religious on my blog ...but...what i have seen on the social media sites  the last few days is driving me NUTS...!!

People.....People...

The election is over...!!

If this fact had not sunk in by Nov. 7th..

i'm sorry to be the one to tell you...

The Election is Over...!!

Stop rehashing it...stop cheering and or whining...

It is what it is...

Deal with it and start working with it...

If it didn't go your way.....start looking into ways to work within the system we've got and lets move this country forward..

The celebrating or bellyacheing will do us no good...

If we don't like something..

if enough of us join together and work to a common goal...

we can make things better for individuals and the country...
