It's a bright sunny 5* outside this morning..

Soaring up to a high of maybe 30* today...

The roads are clear but, school is on a 3 hour delay..

and Mommy is home again...

She's added the shakes to the wheezing...

She says she's better but what does "better" mean when you are trying to get ready for work and you have to stop after each piece of clothing is put on...sit down..catch your breath and stop shaking..

She's typing this for me....cause i don't have thumbs...and has made soooooo many mistakes..

Thank Goodness for those squiggly lines under words and the preview feature...

Tomorrow will be "better"...i guarantee it..

We slept late today and the front porch temp is up to 11* already

and the gurus on the talking machine are saying 4* for tonight....

Ahhhh.....can you say.."Cold!"

Mommy is home today.....she says the wood smoke and cold dry air is making her asthma act up,

she's wheezing like crazy....plus we can't see the driveway for all that fluffy white stuff...

Opppps...

Time to join Mommy and Mia back in bed..

Hope that cat doesn't try to nap with us.....ughhhhh!

The FrontPorch-O-Meter is reading a balmy 5*...

which is a lot better than the -1 it was at 4:30am when CityBoy decided to take the fur babies out for their first run of the day...

Took him longer to get their sweaters on than they spent outside...

then their chilly little bodies were back in bed with me...!! 

 

It's suppose to be a beautiful sun shiny day...

High of 20..but..the sun will be out...

and then tomorrow.....more snow....

A Sign of Spring....

During a lull in yesterday's snow..

I spotted this pair hangout or hanging on in a near by evergreen...

I wondered if they were looking for just the right place to build their nest...

Yesterday's snow was weird...

it would snow like crazy...almost blizzard conditions...

and then it would stop and the sun would come out...

Strange

The NW section of the county has 6-8" of the fluffy stuff....

here at the 12 Acre Woods.....maybe 1/2"....

But

it's cold everywhere......6* on the front porch this AM...

Another Lull......

..before the storm...

It's a beautiful 43* outside right now..

but

by noon the winds are suppose to be howling and the snow is suppose to be blowing..

Somewhere between 1-4" by midnight...

Schools are open .... the park is open...

things should change in a few hours...

 

I'm hurrying into work...getting things done and then running home when the first flakes start to fall...

I'm to old for this "playing" in the fluffy white stuff...

but

i do like to watch it come down...

safe and warm with a good book or my sewing machine...

He came from south of Atlanta...

There was some snow on the ground...

There were saucers in the garage...
He's 10 years old...

He had to try...

He wiped out......several times....

He needed more snow...!

But

He had to try...

Yes the female child and two of the grandsons made a quick trip to the mountains...

Got to experience some snow.....not as much as they wanted...

Stayed up late talking....got squeezed by the Parental Units up the hill...

Had dinner with us and the MaleChild...

then

Headed south once again...

Good thing i had today off....i needed at least 48 hours of recovery time....

Seems that "Grumpy Cat" may have started a phase for cat lovers...

Try to out do the dog lovers....hummmmmm...

We have a cat.....Misskitty....

She could give Grumpy Cat a run for his money...

Her newest trick is she no longer wants to work for her food by jumping up on the counter where her dishes are always full...(i know...Bad Mommy)

Instead....she comes and gently sits in front of either CityBoy or I...

purrs a little and then sinks a set of claws into the side of our leg...

The roads are nice and dry...covered in salt ...but dry...

i'll make it to work on time today....

Two Hour Delay.....

Can you see that..? 

At 4:17 this am it was 1.6 degrees...!

When the alarm went off at 6am and the DJ said....

"Good Morning...it's a beautiful -7 wind chill degrees..!"

The body said......I don't think so...!

but

The mind said....You gotta go, you've got things to do today that you can't do from home...

So the mind and body compromised and i'm running about 1.5 hours late....

In school official lingo that's called a two hour delay...

Somethings you never forget....doesn't matter how long you've been retired from the system...

One Phone Call....

...that's all it took this morning for me to stay home...

Called the mountain park and asked about road conditions...

the answer was "iffy" at best and things are getting worse...we're thinking of closing the main road...

No Problem...!!

I can update the website and notify the powers that be from home...

Everyone is updated and emailed....i'm sooooo lucky i can do all that with a few key strokes and never leave the house...

I can just sit here and watch it SNOW....!!

Now that's cold for this part of the high country...

It was a good day to take a vacation day..

The furr babies and i ventured out on the front porch about 8am...

and found a beautiful sun shinning on the snow...

However

temp had only risen to 15*

Winter.....

...is coming our way...

Snow should start tonight...after a few hours of rain...

can you say..."black ice tomorrow"...

Lucky for me i had planned to take a vacation day this week...

was gonna take today..but..work is calling, so i'll take tomorrow...

Snow will not be too bad..it's the temps...low teens at night and below zero sometime before Sunday rolls around..

 

Burrrrrrr.....Where's my mittens...heavy coat...hat...scarf...?

I Finally Found It....

For the last two years I've ended each daily blog with a small phrase that has meaning to me and hopefully to some of you...

I've used...

Life is Good

and

Everyday is a Gift..

both have many meanings in their own way...

For this year I've been searching for weeks....for just the right phrase... something that would describe the times we are living in and give us reason for looking to the future...

Well.....I finally found it last Friday while reading a book about death...and the struggle of picking up and moving forward to a new and different day...
