I was up and out almost before the sun yesterday....for the drive to the big city of Boone...
Time for that yearly female physical....

Many years ago i decided that dreaded doctors visit and a mammogram was the best Christmas gift i could give myself....

Soooooo....for the last 10 years or so in the week between Christmas and New Years... i make the drive down off the mountain or out of the Acreage(FL).....to plop various body parts on a table or a slab of cold plastic and make sure i'm good to go for another year.............ugh!!!

Do something for yourself ladies.....it's worth the effort...

For an Old Broad...i'm in pretty good shape...

They suggested that i use a mug rug for a kitty bowl place mat.....well the 10"x6" rug mug was a little small ....... so i increased the size to 12"x8" ..... and

Voila..!!

I'm stuck.....

...on top of a mountain......watching snow tornadoes whizz by in the hollow below....!!
What's with this wind..??
The snow i can handle......the wind.....not so much....!!

Of course the workaholic went to work.....
In 16* temps......winds gusting up to 45mph....
making the "real" temp somewhere below -5*..!
He bundled up ..... heavy coat....two shirts....long underwear.....gloves.....yak trax....flashlight.....extra shoes in a bag and coffee cup in hand.....

Down he went...to the SUV he parked at the bottom of the drive yesterday morning....
He's doing a double shift today and loving it.....

.....WORK.....

Someone needs to tell him......it's a four letter word...
and should be eliminated from the English language...!!

Santa and Snow....

Took us all day...but....they are now de-stuffed and de-squeakered....
They are now the perfect shape for shaking and cuddling during nap time....!!

This past March at the Shop-Hop in Atlanta....we heard small bits of gossip about ....
"Mug Rugs"

And in the last few weeks....."Mug Rugs" have been all over Bloggerville...
Seems they are the homemade Christmas gift of the year.....

Tuesday...during the "blah weather" day...
I whipped up 2 sets.....

Using the left over material from the Female Child's table topper....
I made a Christmas set.....on right
And some "Kitty" fabric...i made an everyday set....

Cute....huh...??

They'll be winging their way up the hill as a gift....

Heirlooms or Antiques.......

These are the stocking i made when the MaleChild was an infant.....
I felt we needed special stocking for Santa to fill on his first Christmas....

Now here's my question......there are somethings....which when they reach the ripe old age of 30 .... they are considered "antiques".......you know like...cars....furniture...etc....

Well.....the MaleChild turned 31 this year.....!!

Does this make my home made stockings Antiques...?

And i've got stockings for the FemaleChild......allllll the dogs we had at the time.....the horses we had at the time....and...there may be one for the chickens we had at the time....

Could i change the names at the top and reuse...??

Would this remove them from Antiques status....!!

Maybe i'll just call them "early heirlooms"

Yep.....yesterday was such a black & white....snowy....windy....icey....
no sun.....stay in the house......only throw the fur babies out 2 maybe 3 times.....watch the cat sleep all day.....watch Cityboy sleep in the chair......not see the MaleChild until dinner time, which he ate and then disappeared back into his abode......sort'a day....

That a small spurt of Christmas Spirit hit me...!!
So i dug around in the freezing basement and found a few of my favorite things.....

Now....if i could get another spurt and do the shopping thing.....
i'd be in great shape for the Holidays....!!

Ohhhhh....by-the-way......the driveways gone again...!!

"Well.....no snow so far...!"

Hummmmmm.....four and one-half hours later.....about three inches and the blizzard conditions should begin this afternoon....according to the weather gurus.....But, what do they know....they're in their nice warm studios down in Charlotte....!!
Suck it up guys...!! Put on your Polar Fleece and come up here to the high country and then we'll talk snow, ice, wind and blizzard conditions....

You might be able to find my driveway.....

Oh Brother....!!!

It's not even Christmas yet and we've got MORE snow on the way....
By this time tomorrow the rain should start..... followed by the snow.....then comes the wind......which brings the temps down to below zero and to top it all off.....the temp plus the wind will bring us ice.....

The big city weather guru was mumbling something about 8-10 inches on the TV this morning......guess Mom should get her truck out of the garage...... cause.....

If i run out of canned kitty food.....things could get a little hairy around here.....!!

For some reason i ended up in the sewing room....quilting away....by 8:30 yesterday morning and didn't touch the laptop until mid-afternoon.....

Not my usual routine..!!

Laptop and bloggerville is enjoyed....along with a cup of coffee....first thing in the AM....

What can i say....

"The female child's Christmas gift is done...!!!"

....Monday's errands are canceled due to lack of driveway.....
